From Oregon Flora, Gardening with Natives:
Western meadow rue is a lacy perennial that grows in the dappled shade of moist woodland gardens with high organic matter. Male and female flowers bloom in late spring through summer on separate plants, with males resembling miniature chandeliers of fringed lampshades dangling yellow and purple stamens and females like a wine-colored fireworks display. The round, lobed leaflets fade to yellow in autumn.
